The beautiful lagoons that we will know are:
LAGUNA DE POMACANCHI (Located 2.5 m from the town of Pomacanchi)
The lagoon of Pomacanchi is located in the high part of the Vilcanota River, has a maximum depth of 140 meters; Around this there are abundant natural pastures: medicinal species, totora, mirmi, etc. and of fish: trout, pejerreyes, huitas, ccarachis, ch’iñis and carps. In the Pomacanchi lagoon, the municipality has built a tourist camp of totora huts, a shed to eat and a grill to prepare trout, which in this area there are up to 300 fishermen associated, here you can ride in pedal boats accompanied by a guide.
ACOPIA LAGOON
The second is a small lagoon called Acopia, located in the town of the same name, the lagoon of Acopia is very populated with birds, here you will see pelicans and wild ducks. In stock you can meet the house of the woman who inspired the best known huayno Cusco Valicha, Valeriana Huillca Condori (QPD). She inspired Cuzco composer Miguel Ángel Hurtado to write this beautiful melody.
LAGUNA DE ASNAQOCHA
The third is the Asnaqocha Lagoon (meaning malodorous lagoon), it concentrates abundant algae, which, exposed to the sun’s rays, produce a strong smell.
LAGUNA DE PAMPAMARCA OR TUNGASUCA
The fourth lagoon is the highest in the circuit (3 750 meters above sea level), called Tungasuca or Pampamarca, and hosts a wide variety of wildlife such as parihuanas and ducks, due to the abundance of totora that surround it. The practice of sport fishing is carried out especially in Pampamarca. This lagoon is freshwater.
